Ocular Health Technology
Optos
Optomap imaging provides our doctors with a 200 degree view inside the eye. The scans can facilitate the early detection and management of diseases in the retina. Diagnosis of retinal holes or tears, retinal detachments, macular degeneration, glaucoma, and diabetic retinopathy is made more easily using this technology. Imaging is viewed during the appointment and our doctors can educate you on your eye specifics! To learn more you can visit the optos website at: https://www.optos.com/en/
OCT
Optical Coherence Tomography, or OCT, is similar to an ultrasound of the back of your eye. This provides our doctors with a cross-sectional image of the different layers of the retina. It also can measure the thickness of your optic nerve. It is non-invasive and easy to complete. This technology is imperative for monitoring glaucoma, macular degeneration and diabetic changes in the eye.
HUMPHREY’S VISUAL FIELD
This instrument tests side vision or peripheral vision. Vision loss can occur within the eye or deeper within the brain pathways. The results of a visual field test can help our doctors detect, measure, and locate the area causing vision loss. Visual field testing is useful to detect or monitor glaucoma, multiple sclerosis, stroke, brain tumours, and pituitary tumours. It is also used routinely to monitor for side effects of some medications such as Plaquenil. We have the model required by the ministry of transportation of Ontario to certify your visual fields meet driving standard.

During your eye exam our doctors will discuss which contact lenses they believe will work best for your prescription and lifestyle. Contact lenses can be trialed before ordered to ensure comfort. Our doctors will check the vision and fit! We offer a training session for new contact lens wearers to teach you how to put contacts in, how to remove contacts, as well as proper care and handling of your specific lenses. Contact lenses can be soft or rigid material. There are contact lenses for distance vision, astigmatism correction, and multifocal correction. We offer monthly, bi-weekly, and daily lens designs. Contact lenses are tailored to your individual needs. Ask us about contact lenses at your next eye examination!
